Why we joined the Program

In 2018 we joined the Smiling Mind Program to research the impact of the Smiling Mind App in adult users, as it was firstly targeted at youth mental health.

The Smiling Mind mission is to provide life-long tools that support healthy minds. In order to achieve this, they offer a unique app developed by psychologists and educators to help bring balance to people’s lives. The programs are designed to assist people in dealing with pressure, stress and challenges of daily life.

About Smiling Mind

1 in 4 secondary students and 1 in 7 primary school students experience a mental illness and 75% of all mental illness has its onset before the age of 24.

This is why it is imperative we take preventive action to turn these statistics around.

Mindfulness is proven to lead to better attention, memory, regulation of emotions and self awareness.

In turn, improvements in these areas can lead to reduced stress, anxiety and depression, better academic skills, social skills and self esteem.

aim

Our aim is to develop a better understanding of how Australians view mental well being and mindfulness, and how messages about mindfulness and well being can best be communicated to the Australian population.
