The NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Mental Health and Substance Use has partnered with the Commonwealth Government to produce an online, curated “Ice Toolkit” to improve access to evidence‐based information about methamphetamine, raise awareness about the potential harms and mental health problems associated with methamphetamine use, and provide information about how to access services and/or support.  The target audience for the online “Ice Toolkit” includes consumers, carers, parents, local councils, Parents and Citizens Groups, community organisations, and anyone seeking support or information relating to methamphetamine use.

Family and Friend Support Program is an online intervention and support package for families/friends supporting loved ones using ice. It includes information on how families and friends can best help their loved ones and protect them from adverse impacts of their drug-using lifestyle. Family and Friend Support Program recognises that supporting someone who is using can be extremely stressful, and aims to assist families and friends to best manage the demands of this role.

about

Aim

Our aim is to develop an online family/friend resilience and wellbeing program to support the parents/carers/friends of people who use methamphetamine, and to integrate this program both within the online “Ice Toolkit”.

Families and friends can play a critical role in the recovery of people using ice (and other drugs). However, there is little support for families in this situation, including information on how to best help their loved ones and protect them from potential adverse impacts of their drug-using lifestyle
